The Credit Manager will be responsible for conducting thorough analyses of prospective borrowers, employing rigorous credit risk assessment methodologies, and crafting sophisticated credit proposals. Location: Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed financial analysis and build credit models for portfolio companies, assessing cash flow, collateral, and overall credit risk
- Prepare credit proposals, investment memos, and presentations that highlight borrower creditworthiness and risk mitigation strategies
- Perform thorough due diligence on portfolio companies seeking loans, reviewing financials, legal documents, and industry-specific risks
- Monitor the performance of the credit portfolio, ensuring that borrowers comply with loan terms and proactively identifying any signs of credit deterioration
- Assist in the structuring of loan terms, covenants, and conditions to align with both the needs of portfolio companies and the fund’s risk management framework
- Collaborate with underwriters, legal teams, and senior management to facilitate loan execution and ensure smooth disbursement processes
- Provide ongoing analysis and reporting on the credit portfolio’s performance, preparing updates for senior management
- Stay informed of market trends and regulatory changes that could affect the performance of the credit portfolio or the risk environment for portfolio companies
- Support the development and improvement of credit policies, procedures, and lending practices to optimize risk management
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field
- Progress towards relevant certifications such as CFA, FRM, or credit-specific qualifications is highly desirable
- 3-5 years of experience in credit analysis, private lending, corporate banking, or related fields, with a focus on credit underwriting and portfolio management
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, loan structuring, and financial analysis principles, including financial modeling
- Advanced financial, analytical, and modeling skills, particularly for assessing borrower creditworthiness and forecasting cash flows
- Highly motivated and committed to maintaining high ethical standards
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities, particularly in credit-related scenarios
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced lending environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly present complex financial analyses
- Proficiency with MS Office (especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) and other financial tools
- Bilingual – English and French is an advantage
