Barka is an impact fund focused on African entrepreneurs taking measures to address urgent climate and environmental challenges in their communities. Barka supports their efforts to scale environmental and climate solutions and build sustainable companies.
1) We are one of very few funders exclusively focused on filling the "finance gap.”
2) We offer both equity and debt investments and are purposefully flexible as the capital needs of the companies are diverse.
3) We provide a solution to prepare startups for funding rounds and put the right tools at their disposal.
We work with existing incubators and accelerators programs to identify, integrate and build a community of climate-focused startups. Through our partnerships and support, these programs organize and implement several initiatives, including calls to action for climate startups, marketing and promotional strategies, innovation hubs and business case competitions.
We support efforts to build a vibrant and successful African entrepreneurial ecosystem by adopting a phased approach to investing that begins with an investment-readiness program followed by a capital investment solution.
The investment readiness program includes one-on-one support, capacity building, training and specialized support and expertise to help companies address specific technical challenges or achieve particular goals.
